- Plant tray and bucket
- 24-hour timer
- Clay pebbles or 50/50 diatomite
- Reservoir tank with lid – preferably 40 gallons
- Nutrient solution
- Submersible pump
- A tube set

To build flood drain hydroponics, you begin at the bottom. Assemble the frame and reservoir tank of the bottom part, which is leveled to the floor or ground of your chosen location. Place the tank into the bottom frame and cover with the lid.
Next is to work on the upper frame, which is where the growing containers and trays are installed. Be sure that every material is properly and securely built to prevent falling and drips.
After both upper and bottom parts are set, insert the tubes from the tray and should extend down to the tank. The tube at the upper part is used for water flow, while the lower one is for draining and filling the growing container. Once double checked, attach the pump to the tube and place the cord out setting on the side of the reservoir tank. Fill in the tank with water.
The next thing to do is to fill in the planting trays with clay pebbles or diatomite. After this, place the root ball of the chosen hydroponic plants into the water. Ensure the root ball has been washed off to clear soil before submerging into the water. Fill more pebbles if necessary.
